A Conservative Approach To Conservation
Energy
Build a reliable, affordable, and clean American energy future
Summary
American energy is clean energy. We must pursue a robust, all-of-the-above strategy with an emphasis on American-made, “clean, firm” sources. To build this reliable, affordable, and increasingly clean energy future, we must slash the red tape holding us back and bring manufacturing home to bolster the American economy.
Policy Pathways
- Reindustrialize America by strengthening domestic and allied supply chains through strategic, targeted investment and partnership
- Promote research, development, and deployment of next-generation technologies, such as small modular reactors and advanced geothermal energy
- Modernize the National Environmental Policy Act, establish limits on judicial review, and expand categorical exclusions to accelerate critical energy infrastructure projects while maintaining strong environmental standards
- Manufacture solar panels and other energy technologies in the United States
- Prioritize updating and building out transmission lines and pipelines to strengthen and secure the energy grid
Agriculture
Empower America's farmers to steward their land
Summary
America’s farmers and ranchers have long been the original conservationists. We must empower them to continue their stewardship of the land, ensuring clean air, clean water, and healthy soil for generations to come.
Policy Pathways
- Support farmers through voluntary conservation programs that provide financial and technical assistance
- Invest in agricultural R&D to develop innovative, environmentally friendly farming practices
- Promote intentional, sustainable, and local food systems
- Improve the quality and trust of environmental markets to draw more investment and greater commitment from farmers and ranchers
Water
Protect and conserve America’s water resources
Summary
Clean water is a top concern for Americans. Especially in the Western United States, communities face serious challenges with water access, agriculture, and recreation. We must employ innovative and creative solutions to increase water supply and ensure that every American has access to abundant, clean water.
Policy Pathways
- Support innovative practices, such as cloud seeding, to address drought nationwide
- Authorize and fund programs aimed at restoring and protecting our nation’s key watersheds
- Refill the Great Salt Lake through state-led initiatives and cutting-edge solutions
- Provide funding for the Colorado River and Ogallala Aquifer depletion
Public Lands
Honor our natural heritage
Summary
America is blessed with some of the most beautiful landscapes in the world, offering abundant natural resources, outdoor recreation, and environmental protection. We must steward our natural heritage wisely for future generations.
Policy Pathways
- Empower Americans to protect and manage critical landscapes, including grasslands, wetlands, and marine areas
- Streamline environmental permitting for forest management projects and reduce frivolous litigation
- Protect sportsmen’s rights and uplift hunters and anglers, the original conservationists
- Invest in capacity and bolster collaboration to carry out prescribed burns, thinning, and other forest health projects
- Expand and improve access to public lands and outdoor recreation opportunities
