ACC Celebrates Win for American Farmers and Conservation

WASHINGTON, DC – The American Conservation Coalition (ACC) today applauded the Department of Energy for its decision to support regenerative agriculture and conservation through changes to the “45Z” clean fuels program.

ACC President Chris Barnard said, “This smart policy update rewards American farmers for practices that improve soil health and conserve our nation’s farmland for generations to come. ACC is proud to have played a part in this work.”

The Clean Fuel Production Credit, commonly referred to as 45Z, historically did not account for farm-level conservation practices. DOE’s updates to the GREET model that supports the program represent a significant step forward for conservation efforts and regenerative agriculture. In July, ACC played a crucial role in advocating for this change by leading a coalition letter to Secretary Chris Wright, with key stakeholders.

ACC looks forward to continued collaboration with American farmers to create better incentives for regenerative agriculture and soil conservation.
