For a cleaner, more prosperous world, ACC mobilizes conservatives around environmental issues, fostering collaboration in the pursuit of environmental conservation.

Who We Are

Charlotte, North Carolina, has never been confused about what drives it. Economic agility, hard work, and the knowledge that building means nothing unless you’re building to last. The city’s power grid tells the same story: half nuclear, a third natural gas, the rest a mix of coal and renewables. Low-carbon, yes, but just as important: reliable, and built to last.

That balance is the backdrop of the American Conservation Coalition’s newest Young Professional Branch. Unlike ACC’s college Branches, Young Professional Branches are tailored for people building careers, starting families, and balancing other responsibilities alongside their stewardship of the community. The August 22nd kickoff drew a group of excited members who recognize conservation as part of the city’s character.

Among the excited attendees were Co-Branch Leaders Bryden Reed and Jessica Rivet (pictured in the bottom-right photo). They’re exactly the kind of married pair you’d expect at the helm of this new chapter. Bryden runs a political communications firm while Jessica helps manage her family’s award-winning French patisserie. Together, they ground the group in both civic and community life perfectly.

As the evening went on, the group laughed over beers and shared time together. While the occasion felt light, the group was also determined. The conversation circled around clean energy, future outdoor events, and how the group plans to connect with their peers at the UNC Charlotte, mentioned Jack Morrissey, North & South Carolina State Director.

For Charlotte, this is only the beginning. But it feels like the young people here are simply picking up the torch, ready to carry on the city’s legacy.
