For a cleaner, more prosperous world, ACC mobilizes conservatives around environmental issues, fostering collaboration in the pursuit of environmental conservation.
The American Conservation Coalition empowers young people to fight for a clean environment by promoting our deeply American values of liberty, equality, and prosperity. When those values are not extended to all citizens, we have an ethical duty to speak up.
We will not remain silent while the Black community is in pain.
Black people are suffering under the systemic weight of racism. The privilege of safely and freely enjoying our natural world does not extend to Black people. Whether it’s Christian Cooper bird watching in Central Park or Ahmaud Arbery jogging in Glynn County, Georgia, it is clear that enjoying the outdoors while Black is not safe. Even if we were to ignore recent events, the research cannot be ignored. Climate change has a disproportionate impact on minority communities. Cycles of poverty and discrimination continue to work against them in getting the help they need to adapt and rebuild in the face of climate change.
In order to move forward as a society, we must acknowledge racism, even in its most insidious forms.
Building a brighter future begins with us. With this knowledge, ACC will continue to push for action to uplift our most vulnerable communities and refuses to conform in the face of injustice. To those protesting, we urge you to take the necessary precautions to keep yourself safe. We are with you.
